Lahainaluna High School FAFSA Information (Class of 2022 Seniors)

Hey Seniors,

The FAFSA (financial aid) opened last Friday. Every senior who is planning on attending college or thinking of attending college should complete the FAFSA. Why?

1. Every student needs a financial aid package, especially if they are needing financial or merit based scholarships.

2. Students planning on participating in intercollegiate sports must have a FAFSA on file.

3. Even if students are not qualified to receive federal grants, this form is needed to apply for community scholarships.

4. If a student or their parent are in need of a low interest student or parent loan, this is the only way to qualify for federal loans. These federal loans have a fixed yearly interest and are monitored by the federal government, this means the banks cannot fluctuate your interest on the loans. This is also the safest loan to receive because they are monitored by the government.

Every college has their own FAFSA (financial aid) deadline, do not wait until the deadline to submit your FAFSA, it is possible for colleges to run out of money for those students who apply late.

What is your first step? Get your FSA ID (one for you and for ONE parent) https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/sign-in/landing
