• Students must demonstrate fluency in English (or Hawaiian),
and a second language. In addition to a minimum of 3.0
cumulative GPA in English Language Arts or Hawaiian
Language Arts courses required for the high school graduation
diploma, there are other options for candidates to demonstrate
proficiency in English or Hawaiian.
• Students graduating NEXT YEAR (class of 2024) will be
required to demonstrate an Intermediate Mid or higher
proficiency level on ALL parts of a language exam where
applicable.
If you wish to demonstrate fluency in a second language
through AP testing, you must submit your application for the
Seal of Biliteracy no later than 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November
1, 2022, and YOU are responsible for arranging AP testing.
Lahainaluna does not offer language AP tests. Otherwise, you
must apply by 3:00 p.m. on Monday, November 7, 2022 which
is the first application deadline. If you miss that first deadline,
you may apply between 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 4,
2023, and 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 31, 2023. This is the
final deadline.
