Lahainaluna ʻOhana,
As we enter into the fourth quarter, I want to thank all of you for your patience and understanding during what has been a school year like none other. Together, we continue to move forward to support our students.
Our staff has identified a common goal for the rest of this school year, which is to focus on communicating with families to improve student attendance. To this end, Lahainaluna will be reinstating Robocalls for attendance, which have been turned off since August. If you remember from the past, families received an automated phone call detailing each period a student was marked absent. This will begin again on Monday, March 25th.
While we understand the many changes and variables that continue to affect our community, the greatest indicator for student success is how much time they spend in school and in their classes. We need to share in this effort across campus, and especially in support of our outgoing Seniors in meeting the requirements for graduation and participation in the Commencement Ceremony.
The process and procedure for families will not change much. We ask that you continue to report your student’s absence to our attendance office by calling 808-727-6400 and asking to speak with attendance.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in your student’s education. Please communicate with your child the importance of regular attendance and its impact on their grades. We can all agree that being in class, on time, and prepared is a first step to ensure our students leave Lahainaluna prepared to face the challenges of the real world.
