Lahaina Schools Student Showcase

Event to celebrate Lahaina students’ innovative learning

The community is cordially invited to attend the first-ever Lahaina Schools Student Showcase, to be held on April 24, 2024, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Westin Maui Resort and Spa. Themed “Nā Leo o nā Haumāna o Lāhainā,” this event celebrates the innovative learning of Lahaina learners. It provides a unique platform for these students to demonstrate their creativity, communication, care for a collaborative community, and critical thinking.

Hear the story of Devyn Gruber, who captured the soul of our Lahaina town with her "Ceramics of Lahaina" project. "My vases represent the people of Lahaina and the countless memories we made here,” Gruber said. “They also represent our unity as the people of Lahaina, which serves as a reminder that together we are one, and together we will rebuild," she added. Listen to one of our students who lost their house and how he reimagines the "Future of Front Street." Most students found inspiration in creating these projects from what happened to the community last August 8, 2023. They talk about the aftermath of the Lahaina wildfire, illuminating Maui’s housing crisis, solution paths to climate change, and more stories. There will be at least 50 projects to be showcased from Lahainaluna High School and Lahaina Intermediate School.
