Congratulations 2017-2018 Luna Robotic Team!
Exciting News!!! Lunas Robotics Team 3882 qualifies for FIRST® Robotics World Championship Competition!!
FIRST® CHAMPIONSHIP-HOUSTON @ George R. Brown Convention Center, APRIL 18-21, 2018
“What is FIRST® Robotics Championship?”
“FIRST® Robotics Competition combines the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology. Teams of 10 students or more are challenged to design a team “brand,” hone teamwork skills, and build and program a robot to perform prescribed tasks against a field of competitors. It’s as close to “real world” engineering as a student can get. Professional mentors volunteer their time and talents to guide each team.”
When our Lunas Robotics Team 3882 competed in San Diego (Del Mar) @ Regional FIRST® Robotic Competition they placed 2nd (reaching the finals) out of 66 teams & received the Regional Finalists, the Wildcard and Judges' Award (given when the judging panel may decide that a team's unique efforts, performance, or dynamics merit recognition) which the team also won in 2016. The team’s performance qualified them to compete in the world championships in Texas in April, this is the FIRST TIME EVER since the team was created in 2011!
While the team had already registered to compete at the Hawaii Regional FIRST® Robotics Competition, March 21st - 24th at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Stan Sheriff Arena against approximately 37 teams from Hawaii, the mainland & international. They were delighted to be asked & qualify for the FIRST® CHAMPIONSHIP-HOUSTON. The team will gladly accept any and all donations to contribute to the cost of this added honor to compete! Donations welcome! Please make checks payable to Lahainaluna High School and write Lunas Robotic Team in the memo, mail to (980 Lahainaluna Road, Lahaina, HI 96761) or drop of the donation at Lahainaluna H.S. main office M- F 8 AM – 4 PM
